Hip pain

Hip pain originating from the hip joint is often felt in the groin area and frequently radiates towards the knee. Pain on the outside of the hip, near the pubic bone, low in the back or in the buttock often originates from the pelvis rather than the hip joint itself. We can help determine exactly where your complaints are coming from.

Causes

Pain in the hip joint can have various causes. The most common is osteoarthritis of the hip, which can cause pain and stiffness. Other structural changes in the hip joint, such as hip impingement syndrome, can also cause complaints. Some complaints that appear to originate in the hip joint may actually come from the lower back or the pelvis.

Can we help?

We cannot remove osteoarthritis or structural changes in the hip joint — but that does not mean they have to cause pain. We can help reduce pain and improve function. Chiropractic care can also help the other joints in the movement chain (pelvis, knee, foot and ankle) to function as well as possible, thereby reducing hip complaints.
